Introduction

In the concluding verses of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna praises both the Teacher and student of the Gita by stating that he who studies the sacred dialogue is performing a ritual of worship at the altar of wisdom. Through this worship (Yagna) of invoking divine wisdom (Jnana), Swami Chinmayananda envisioned a revival of moral values and spiritual goals in 1951.

From a paltry audience of seven, with which he started in Poona. to his last yagna in Washington DC , several thousand seekers came to listen to the voice of the Rishis and this is the story of the Chinmaya Yagnas.
